Scott A. Mangum is a partner with Sweeney Mason LLP. He assists his clients in a variety of litigation matters, focusing primarily on construction and real estate matters, including construction claims, construction defects, real estate property sales, broker liability and real estate disclosure matters. Prior to joining Sweeney Mason LLP, Scott practiced law at Ropes & Gray LLP, where he focused primarily on securities matters for public companies.

Scott received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2008. Prior to that, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in History.

During his time at Santa Clara University School of Law, Scott acted as Editor-in-Chief of the Santa Clara Law Review and achieved distinction in a number of moot court competitions. Upon graduation, he received the prestigious Inez Mabie Outstanding Graduate Award and was admitted to the Order of the Coif, a nationally recognized honor society. As an alum, Scott has been honored to serve as a guest lecturer at the School of Law.

In 2014, the State Bar of California’s Real Property Law Section awarded Scott its Morning Star Award for his dedication and commitment to the practice of real estate law. California Super Lawyers has repeatedly selected Scott as one of its Rising Stars in Northern California’s legal industry.

Scott has sat on the Board of Directors for RECON – Silicon Valley, the local chapter of a national organization dedicated to commercial construction and real estate development, and for a local chapter of the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association. He is also active in the Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce and numerous other construction and real estate organizations.

Scott lives in San Jose with his wife, Marlene, and enjoys hiking, traveling, and baseball.
