Nathaniel R. Lucey

Nathaniel R. Lucey is senior counsel with Sweeney Mason LLP. He represents clients in a variety of litigation matters, focusing primarily on insurance coverage disputes, professional liability, real estate matters, and home mortgage litigation. Prior to joining Sweeney Mason LLP, Nathaniel was a shareholder in a state-wide defense firm with a practice focused on insurance bad faith, professional liability, and defending institutional lenders. 

Nathaniel received his Juris Doctor, from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2008. Prior to that, he graduated from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.

During his time at Santa Clara University School of Law, Nathaniel was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Advanced Legal Writing Analysis and the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence for Chinese Trade and Investment Law. After law school, Nathaniel served on the Board of the California Young Lawyers Association for the State Bar of California. He has also presented seminars on topics including California Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act, and insurance in California’s marijuana industry. 

In 2013, the State Bar of California’s Real Property Law Section awarded Nathaniel its Morning Star Award for his contributions to the practice of real estate law. 

Nathaniel lives in Santa Clara with his wife, Shantelle, and enjoys cooking, traveling, and cross-fit.
