Liudmyla (“Mila”) Balke

Liudmyla (“Mila”) Balke has experience handling general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property issues related to trademarks, copyright, and IP licensing. She works on various transactional matters for individual clients and businesses in a wide variety of industries. Mila’s services include corporate formation and governance, contract drafting, review and negotiation, trademark and copyright registrations, trade secret and/or debt related claims.

Mila earned her J.D. and a High Tech Law, Corporate Specialization Certificate, with honors, from Santa Clara University School of Law. She received her M.A. in Linguistics, cum laude, from the Classic Private University in Ukraine in 2007. Mila served as a Senior Technical Editor of the Santa Clara Law Review and was awarded a High-Tech Excellence Award and the Best Oral Advocate Award. Her piece on cybersecurity law issues in China was published with the Law Review. Mila also co-authored an article for the Santa Clara “Advocate” on international business negotiations.

She is a member of the Santa Clara Bar Association, California Association of Business Brokers, Construction Financial Management Association and the California Society of CPAS, Attorneys and Bankers.

Prior to joining Sweeney Mason LLP, Mila worked at Zegelman Law Group assisting clients with corporate governance and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing, intellectual property protection and transfer, and technology licensing.

Mila lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains and has her hands full with a cute toddler.
