Scott A. Mangum is a partner with Sweeney Mason LLP. He assists his clients in a variety of litigation matters, focusing primarily on construction and real estate matters, including construction claims, construction defects, real estate property sales, broker liability and real estate disclosure matters. He also specializes in various forms of dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and early neutral evaluations, and enjoys assisting clients in navigating conflicts to a productive resolution in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
Scott received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2008. Prior to that, he graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in History, with both Highest Departmental Honors and College Honors. In furtherance of his expertise in dispute resolution, Scott is currently pursuing an LL.M. (Masters of Law) in Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
During his time at Santa Clara University School of Law, Scott acted as Editor-in-Chief of the Santa Clara Law Review and achieved distinction in a number of moot court competitions. Upon graduation, he received the prestigious Inez Mabie Outstanding Graduate Award and was admitted to the Order of the Coif, a nationally recognized honor society. As an alum, Scott has been honored to serve as a guest lecturer at the School of Law.
Scott has received numerous awards and acknowledgments throughout his career, including the State Bar of California’s Real Property Law Section Morning Star Award for his dedication and commitment to the practice of real estate law. California Super Lawyers has also repeatedly selected Scott as one of its Rising Stars in Northern California’s legal industry.
Scott has sat on numerous boards of directors, including the Board of Directors for RECON – Silicon Valley, the local chapter of a national organization dedicated to commercial construction and real estate development, and the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association-Alameda Chapter. He is also active in numerous other construction and real estate organizations, including United Contractors (UCON), the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), and the Contractors Financial Management Association (CFMA).
In his spare time, Scott enjoys hiking, traveling, live music and baseball.
